On Thursday our Year 6 students proudly represented St Peter Chanel at the Brisbane Catholic Education STEM MAD Showcase, held at the Brisbane Convention Centre. This exciting event celebrates students who use STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering, and Mathematics) to Make A Difference (MAD) in their communities.
We were inspired by keynote speaker Dr Karl Kruszelnicki, who encouraged students to stay curious, ask questions, and use science to solve real-world problems.
Our SPC students presented three outstanding projects:
- Moo Moo Monitor – a drone monitoring system helping farmers care for their cattle more effectively
- The Box of Life – a creative solution for delivering food to remote communities
- Heat Wave – a device for farmers to monitor sheep temperature and health
With over 100 exhibitors sharing innovative ideas, this was a wonderful opportunity for our students to showcase their creativity, collaboration, and critical thinking.
A huge thank you to Miss Cacciola, our amazing STEM teacher, and to all staff who supported the students in preparing for this event.
Congratulations to our Year 6 innovators for representing SPC with pride and showing how STEM can make a positive impact on the world!
